About Christmas Remembrance Services
Christmas Remembrance Services are a safe space to remember loved ones at Christmas.
About our Christmas Remembrance Services
Christmas time can be a very difficult time for families who are missing a loved one.

Remembering Loved Ones at Christmas
Christmas time can be a very difficult time for families who are missing a loved one.
This is why each year Tobin Brothers hosts Christmas Remembrance services at various chapels, to help comfort families and give them a space to remember their loved one.
The festive season can bring with it some overwhelming emotions, whether it’s your first Christmas without them or your 50th.
Finding the appropriate time and space to have a quiet moment of remembrance can be difficult, particularly during the lead up to the festive season.
Coming together with others who may also have experienced loss, and participating in a ceremony to remember our loved ones can be a heart-warming and truly uplifting exercise, which can help to aid us in our grief.
It is a chance to look back on the year that has passed and share a moment of peaceful reflection in a safe space with others who share in your grief.
“I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated the Remembrance Service I attended last night at your Cranbourne Rd office. I found it very meaningful and quite comforting. I particularly enjoyed the music provided by the young man and the choice of music. I feel that everyone who has lost someone precious, like me, should attend these services. I will make a point of relaying my thoughts to my carer group, and other friends who may be in a similar position at any time.”

About our Christmas Remembrance Services
For the best part of 25 years, Tobin Brothers Funerals have been offering our annual Christmas Remembrance Services throughout our branch network.
We have provided much needed comfort to thousands of individuals and families but more importantly provide necessary tools as you prepare for what will be a very different Christmas.
However it is not the number of people that matter at these services. It is the sense of belonging when people are gathered to make decorations in honour of their loved ones.
The moments of courage when people share their tears, words and love with people they have never met before during the service.
We have had many participants comment that they felt supported by the ideas given of how to navigate grief at Christmas time.
Some prefer to remember their loved one in quiet solitude, and others find healing in sharing their stories, and we encourage you to do what feels right for you.
Our remembrance services are free, not religious, open to anyone who has experienced loss and would like to remember their loved one.
“My 4 sisters & I attended your Christmas Remembrance Service at Malvern last night. We all wanted to pass on our thanks to Tobin Brothers and acknowledge the beautiful service led by Frances (Tobin) last night. Whilst we are all at different stages of grief we all wanted to go and take the time at this busy time of the year and stop and reflect. We all took away different things from the service and at this difficult time of the year the time and the effort Tobin Brothers put into these services is very much appreciated. The words and tips delivered at the service gave us all great comfort. Wishing you and all your family and the Team at Tobin Brothers a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.”

What to expect from a Christmas Remembrance Service
Each year, a number of our chapels will host a Christmas Remembrance Service, and these will be listed on our Christmas Remembrance Services page.
We will also webcast services from certain locations, so you are welcome to attend online if you cannot be there in person.
As part of the service we invite you to share a photo or memory of your loved one on the dedicated online Tribute Wall.
You may wish to upload a poem or piece of prose to bring you comfort and connection with others.
You are also welcome to come as you are, letting us guide you through the service.
Although the service itself changes each year and will differ depending on location, the event generally runs for approximately 2 hours and often includes music, refreshments, and readings.
“I attended the Christmas Remembrance Service last night. My mother passed away in February. I wanted to say thank you. In my busy life I don't often stop to reflect and last night I did that."
