Remembering Our Angels : Finding the Magic

Remembering our Angels Service, 2021

Remembering our Angels Services

Remembering Our Angels Services are held annually and are open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a baby or child.

We warmly invite you, your family, friends, nursing staff or those who have cared for you and your babies and children, to view and participate in our services.

We hope that you, and those closest to you, feel able to join us for these special services, for they will certainly be all the more special for your presence. These evenings are not exclusive to families served by Tobin Brothers Funerals. Should you know of someone who could benefit from our Remembering our Angels services, please feel free to invite them.

Finding the Magic

The theme of the event for 2021 was ‘Finding the Magic’ – to remember the magic that our children bring to our lives in the hopes that we will one day find it again for ourselves.

The service was webcast on Sunday 28th November 2021 at 7pm as an online only service.

Why do we hold these services?

These services offer a way to share our love and grief for our children and to highlight ways to navigate the loss of them.

For many of us, as the festive season approaches, rather than experiencing an anticipatory feeling of joy and excitement, we may find ourselves at times, enveloped in feelings of sadness and experiencing a renewal or heightening of the grief we feel for our babies and children. This service aims to support everyone through the festive season and beyond.

The night was one for family and friends to come together to honour and remember your angels in an exclusive online only event for 2021. Even though we are all in separate locations, sharing a single event can connect us.

These evenings are not exclusive to families served by Tobin Brothers Funerals. Should you know of someone who could benefit from our Remembering our Angels services, please feel free to invite them.

Helping others in need

Helping others can provide a renewed sense of purpose and direction during a time when the loss might make life feel aimless or overwhelming, it can provide a sense of connection to the greater community, and can offer comfort in knowing you are making a difference. Combining acts of kindness with personal grief work, therapy, or support groups can provide a holistic approach to healing.

We recognise that your child’s life continues to make a difference in the world in ways that are not always visible. One way that your can make a difference is to bestow a gift on a child this Christmas who would otherwise go without. For anyone who wanted to donate in 2021,  we provided a link to the Smith Families Christmas gift appeal on our website, where the service was webcast from.

Many of us may be feeling unable to financially support others at this time and that is perfectly okay too. We can give to others in many other ways as a way of honouring our own children.

Our Guide to Grief outlines some guidance in understanding grief, and outlines ways you can support yourself and others during this trying time.

Founded in 1934

The first funeral conducted by Tobin Brothers Funerals was for Ena Margaret Price in 1934. In its first year, the company conducted 53 funerals and after the payment of creditors and the collection of debts, it made a modest profit.
