Remembering Our Angels : Bush Wanderings

Remembering our Angels Service, 2023

Remembering our Angels Services

Remembering Our Angels Remembering our Angels services allow us to take time out of our busy lives and spend time in an atmosphere of understanding, community and reflection, to remember and acknowledge the special place in our lives that our babies and children will always hold.

We offer this service as a way of sharing our love and grief for our children and to highlight ways to navigate the loss of them.

For many of us, as the festive season approaches, rather than experiencing an anticipatory feeling of joy and excitement, we
may find ourselves at times, enveloped in feelings of sadness and experiencing a renewal or heightening of the grief we feel for our babies and children. This service aims to support everyone through the festive season and beyond.

We welcome back all who have attended the services in the past and anyone who feels called to attend for the first time. These evenings are not exclusive to families served by Tobin Brothers Funerals. Should you know of someone who could benefit from our Remembering our Angels services, please feel free to invite them.

Bush Wanderings into the world of Snugglepot and Cuddle Pie

The 2023 Services held the theme ‘Bush Wanderings into the world of Snugglepot and Cuddle Pie’ and were beautifully and whimsically decorated in honour of all the infants and children who had died throughout the year, and in years past.

Honouring our Children

In 2023 as part of our Remembering our Angels Services, participants were invited to bring a symbol, photo or image of their child or children to place on our reflection table and  light a candle in their honour. People were also invited to bring a reading, letter, or piece of prose they have written, which could be read by themselves, our staff or a person of their choosing.

Rituals such as these, under the guidance of Tobin Brothers, and in the supportive atmosphere of our Services can provide a sense of comfort in knowing that you are not alone, and creates a safe space to feel, to grieve and to move through the grief process alongside others who share in the experience.

Participants were also invited to decorate felted leaves and hang them to the beautifully lit branches. The service invited parents, siblings and friends to make their creation.

Art therapy exercises such as these can provide a physical outlet for emotions, and can help to give a sense of control and empowerment over what needs to be expressed. Attendees were also welcome to take their leaves home at the conclusion of the service as a meaningful keepsake.
