Tobin Brothers gives $90,000 to local community groups

We celebrated our 90th year by giving away $90,000 to local community groups throughout our branch network.

A Monumental Milestone

This year Tobin Brothers celebrated 90 years of service to families throughout Australia.

Since its inception, Tobin Brothers has remained an Australian-owned family business, delivering the highest standard of care to the community.

We wanted to mark this monumental achievement by giving back to the communities that have supported us throughout the years.

That’s why Tobin Brothers celebrated 90 years in 2024 by giving away $90,000 to local charities through our branch network.

A Lasting Legacy

Over the past 90 years we have been innovators and led change in our industry, introducing the Fixed Price Funeral Plan, the first female-led funeral services in Victoria with Frances Tobin Funerals by Women, initiated the Tobin Brothers Foundation, and increased professional training industry-wide through Funeral Industry Development Australia (FIDA).

Tobin Brothers conducted what is believed to be Australia’s first televised funeral, and has been entrusted with caring for some of Australia’s most high profile figures, including religious leaders,  celebrities, politicians and more.

Today we are proud to serve the community from 27 branch locations throughout Victoria and New South Wales, with over 280 staff who speak more than 30 languages amongst them.

"While this is certainly a momentous occasion, it has never been in our company ethos to simply sit back with a glass of champagne to celebrate our achievements. We have always had strong ties with our local communities, particularly those who look after those most needy and vulnerable. We saw this as yet another way to connect with them, celebrate them, and support them."

Supporting our Community

We wanted to mark this monumental achievement by giving back to the communities that have supported us throughout the years.

For each of our 27 locations, we chose a number of local hard-working community organisations to donate funds to, inviting them to join us at their local branch to receive their cheque, enjoy refreshments, and network with other community groups.

We teamed up with local radio stations, including EasyMusic3MP, 2AY, MAGIC, 2QN, and 3NE, to give these hard working organisations invaluable air time to promote their cause to the wider community. We are incredibly grateful to these stations for their contribution and support.

We have many to thank for our success

Tobin Brothers was established in 1934, and we have maintained a tradition of strong community ties and dedication to service. We have grown through the efforts of many and we are thankful to all who have contributed to this company.

We are thankful of course to the founding brothers and the subsequent generations of Tobin family members who have made this company what it is today.

We are forever grateful to our partners and friends in the industry and beyond, of whom there are far too many to name but we appreciate you each dearly.

To our staff and supporters, both past and present, who work tirelessly to care for our client families and deliver our high standard of service, we thank you for your work.

We would like to also thank the hundreds of thousands of families who have turned to us in their time of need and entrusted us with the care of their loved one. It is truly an honour.

As our 90th year comes to an end, we look forward to reaching 100 years and beyond, continuing in our service to our beloved community long into the future.

Thank you again, Tobin Brothers Funerals.

Founded in 1934

The first funeral conducted by Tobin Brothers Funerals was for Ena Margaret Price in 1934. In its first year, the company conducted 53 funerals and after the payment of creditors and the collection of debts, it made a modest profit.
