Sunshine Branch Closure Notice

As of February 1st 2026, the Tobin Brothers branch in Sunshine will no longer be in operation.

Tobin Brothers Sunshine branch closure

We would like to sincerely thank the Sunshine community for choosing Tobin Brothers to care for your loved ones for over 30 years.

Tobin Brothers Funerals opened its Legacy of Life Chapel in Sunshine in February 1995, located in the old fire station building on Hampshire Road. This site has always held special meaning for our family. Two of our founders, Leo and Phonse Tobin, were members of the fire brigade while also making coffins in the early days of the business. Today, Leo Tobin’s brass fire hat is proudly displayed in the Tobin Brothers Museum as a reminder of those beginnings.

While our Sunshine branch has now closed, our care and support continue. Families are warmly welcome to visit our nearby St Albans or North Melbourne locations, or any other Tobin Brothers branch, should they need assistance in the future. All existing arrangements remain in place and will be honoured with the same care and attention.

Thank you for being part of our story. It has been an honour to serve the Sunshine community.

30 years of service to Sunshine locals

Founded in 1934

The first funeral conducted by Tobin Brothers Funerals was for Ena Margaret Price in 1934. In its first year, the company conducted 53 funerals and after the payment of creditors and the collection of debts, it made a modest profit.
