Why should I consider catering for a funeral?

Catering for a funeral allows focus on honouring their loved one, and saves the hassle of coordinating and preparing food, serving, and cleaning up, easing the burden on you and your guests.

Having delicious food conveniently available at such a stressful time can also help provide comfort and is one less thing for guests to think about.

What types of funeral catering services do you offer?

We offer a range of catering options, and can create a custom experience should you request it. However, for most services we find finger food or share plates to be the most appropriate option, so we have designed our food menu to reflect this.

We have both hot and cold food options, as well as savoury, sweets, and various cuisines. Our menu can be also customised to suit your preferences and dietary requirements.

Our food service also includes tea and coffee, at no extra charge.

We also provide other catering services as well as home-delivered Comfort Meals.

Can you accommodate specific dietary restrictions or preferences?

Yes, we understand the importance of catering to diverse needs. Our team can accommodate various dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other preferences.

Please let your Funeral Planner know of any dietary requirements when you place your order.

Do I have to pick the food up?

No. Your catering selection will be delivered to the venue of your choosing and our trained staff will prepare it for you.

How far in advance should I arrange funeral catering services?

As our catering service has been designed to align with the short-notice nature of funerals, therefore, we need very little notice for catering arrangements. That said, while we do our best to accommodate last minute requests or special orders, we do need adequate time for preparation and delivery.

We suggest you speak with your funeral planner as early as possible in the arrangement process so that we can do our best to fulfil your order.

Can you handle both small and large funeral gatherings?

Absolutely. We can cater to gatherings of all sizes, from intimate family gatherings to larger memorial services. Our goal is to provide a seamless and respectful catering experience in any setting.

What is included with catering?

Our packages typically include food preparation, delivery to venue, service staff, necessary equipment, and cleanup. We don’t charge for changes due to dietary requirements and we provide tea and coffee free of charge with all of our packages. We can also discuss additional services based on your specific needs.

What is Comfort Food?

Our Comfort Food service allows you to send home-style meals to a loved one or for yourself. Sending food is such a practical and thoughtful gift, especially for someone who is grieving or going through a hard time in their life.

You can head to the Diamond Celebrations website to select a Comfort Food package, or meals a la carte and place your order to be delivered.

Can we create a personalised food experience?

Yes. If your family would like to incorporate food into your service, please let your Funeral Planner know. We have arranged many funerals with specific catering or food service, including buffets, sit-down dinners, suppers, and specially made treats.

How do I know how many people to cater for?

A funeral can be a difficult event to cater for for many reasons, and it can be challenging to know how many people may be attending. We recommend calling out Diamond Celebrations team on (03) 8468 1770 to discuss your needs.

Such caring and detail-oriented people who made our family's life easier as we made arrangements after my mother's sudden death. They were compassionate, had a clearly laid out menu of offerings and prices (we held the service at a local venue and they handled everything), and provided as much support as needed (e.g. the Tributes team was happy to answer all my geeky questions about photo resolution and so on so her photo memorial was just right), and they handled all the printing, webcast production (a lot of people attended remotely as Mum had friends and family all around the world), etc. The celebrant who they hired for the service was superb - caring, professional, dedicated enough time to get to know enough about my mother and talk through how to craft the order of service so the full picture of her life could be painted. I've reached the age where other friends with elderly parents have asked what our experience with Tobin was, and I have unreservedly recommended them. You don't want to need their services, but when you do, Con and the team are there for you.

Michelle and the team at Tobin Brothers Burwood organised the funeral for our father who passed away this week. Michelle was beautiful and made the process completely stress free. Thankfully we don't have to organise a funeral every week, but if I did I would use these guys! Highly recommended.

My friend, Joan Hutchinson, prepaid for her funeral with Tobin Bros. in 1991. She paid $2391.00. for everything necessary—pickup limousine, coffin, cremation, viewing, clergyperson—like everything. She died on the 23rd of December 2024, cremated with service at Fawkner on 9 January 2025—95 years of age. All paid for back in 1991. Her surviving relative, Alex, her brother, was very chuffed that this firm had honoured their agreement to the full. We even had Cathy Tobin there.

A big thank you to Tobin Brothers and Mandy, who have promptly, professionally and compassionately made all the necessary arrangements for my late dear Mother's transfer from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast for burial with her darling husband, my wonderful Father. Tobin Bros Doncaster organised my husband's funeral and I can't speak highly enough of the service I received. Every staff member I dealt with was highly professional, caring and patient. My Mother and I have said goodbye to my stepfather. and didn't know what to do or who to turn to. Went to Tobin's Glenroy and Joanne sat us down and calmly walked us through the process. We had my fathers funeral on the 21/03/25 at Tobin Brothers-St Albans. From the time my father passed away at the nursing home on the 16/03/25 Tobin Brothers were amazing. My father passed away early hours of the morning & Tobin Brothers arrived to pick him up, they were so sympathetic/understanding to our whole family. The next day received a call from Tobin Brothers to come in on the Monday to arrange the necessary funeral & they just made it so memorable as we had purchased a prepaid funeral. Our family recently worked with the team at Tobin Brothers in St Albans for the funeral of our mother/grandmother and we cannot speak more highly of them. Beautiful chapel. Very professional and accommodating staff. The chaplain that co ordinated and spoke was brilliant and along with VIP speakers from the Victoria Police Association made the service exactly what Dad would have wanted. Highly recommend.

We were left devastated when my brother in law passed away unexpectedly, he had no funeral fund so we spoke to several different funeral homes. Tobin Bros was the most competitively priced and it in no way did it look like a budget funeral. We were treated with so much compassion and respect and nothing was an issue. We were offered an in house celebrant that conducted the service beautifully, he met with us before the funeral to get a feel for my brother in laws personality and life so that he could really personalise the service. Nikita the young funeral director that looked after us has a maturity and natural compassion beyond her years, she was so beautiful, kind and caring.
