Tobin Brothers Malvern - Celebrating our Local Community
Tobin Brothers Malvern proudly support community events, churches and community groups in our local area. Through sponsorships and events we strengthen our community ties and remain an active part of our community in Malvern and surrounding suburbs.
St Mary's Parish and Holy Eucharist Parish
Tobin Brothers Malvern proudly sponsor both St Mary's Parish and Holy Eucharist Parish to support the efforts of Fr Bill Edebohls. We annually sponsor 'St Mary’s Care’ to raise funds which help the parish administer to the sick and elderly and enable these people to receive communion in their own homes. We also support their Christmas get together at the end of the year.
St John's Anglican Church
Tobin Brothers have always had a great working relationship with Fr John Baldock who has been at the Church for a number of years. Fr John is renowned for great concerts that he organises and St John’s is a major performing Arts and Cultural venue in the Stonington municipality. Tobin Brothers sponsor the St John’s fund which runs programs for the needy, sick and elderly.
Anglican Clergy Seminar
On Wednesday October 7th 2015, Tobin Brothers Malvern hosted a seminar for Anglican Clergy. 27 Clergy members participated, including The Venerable Dr Bradly Billings, who was the incumbent Minister at St John’s Anglican Church in Toorak for several years. Fr Brad has recently been appointed the Director of Theological Education and is responsible for anyone who is studying to be an Anglican Priest, so our Tobin Brothers Branch Manager, Deborah Penton, put a program together to give an insight to funerals and our industry and what the clergy should expect when assisting families who have requested an Anglican Service. Deborah spoke about the practicalities of arranging a funeral and the families expectations now in this ever changing society, and how we can bring the two together, incorporating the liturgy.
Our staff also spoke about the Coroner and the laws surrounding the court, the new updated Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine and what it offers now, whilst our Tobin Brothers Community Education Officer spoke about grief and loss.
The clergy members in attendance brought with them a broad range of ethnic backgrounds and customs, and a great range of experience and knowledge in their field but they left with a much wider understanding of funerals, services, and family expectations which ensures both the clergy, and Tobin Brothers are able to offer the very best of care to their families.
