Maria "Mahal" Victoria Gonzaga sadly passed away in Dandenong Hospital ICU on the 7th of November, 2021.

Mahal was the loving daughter of the late Bibian and Mariano Gonzaga. She was the loving and cherished mother of Jenny Luzares, Richard Arboleda and Jullian Arboleda. Treasured Momsie to her grandchildren Aleyah and Jackson Luzares. Adored mother in law and friend to Rommel Luzares.
She was the beloved older sister to Glen Gonzaga and Maria Filipinas Gonzaga and loved younger sister of Umberto Gonzaga, Rebecca Ehrlich and Frances Ganaban.
She was fondly known as Mahal and Aunty Love to many.

Mahal lived a full life before her numerous health conditions made it hard for her to do the things she loved. Mahal loved many things. She loved cooking and was well known for her infamous Mechado. She loved looking after her plants and was often found outside watering and caring for them. She also loved to dance, sew and let's not forget online shopping.

All who loved her will remember her big heart, zest for life, wonderful sense of humour, wit and perseverance. She was often heard saying "YOLO" - You Only Live Once and stood by that when living her life.

It would be wrong to say that Mahal lost her battle because she never stopped fighting; when everyone else would have broken. Typical Mahal, she never stopped smiling and making jokes until the end. She was surrounded by her children, Jenny, Richard and Jullian who all stood by her to her dying moments.

She will be greatly missed but will forever live in our hearts.

We know that many friends would like to pay their respect and bid their final farewell to Mahal, however as per her wishes there will be no viewing apart from her immediate family and siblings.

We also would like to share, unfortunately due to COVID restrictions beyond our control, the Funeral ceremony has very strict conditions and limited capacity. As such our invitation will be extended accordingly. A private group invitation will be shared. However, Mahal's family would love for you to join us celebrate her life, as we livestream her funeral. Thank you for your kind understanding and overwhelming support.

The first funeral conducted by Tobin Brothers Funerals was for Ena Margaret Price in 1934. In its first year, the company conducted 53 funerals and after the payment of creditors and the collection of debts, it made a modest profit.
