Dr Selvanayagam Selvendra
10 November 1931 - 25 September 2024.
Dr Selvendra was born in Nallur, Jaffna, Sri Lanka and their family home was next to the Nallur Kandasamy temple. He lived in Ipoh, Malaysia in his school years during the war, and also returned to study at Parameswara College in Jaffna.
For higher studies he travelled to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland to study medicine. He then specialised as a general surgeon and obtained a Triple Surgical Fellowship in England, Ireland and Edinburgh.
Later Dr. Selvendra returned to Sri Lanka and then migrated to Melbourne, Australia where he has lived for the past 50 years and worked as a doctor. He was recognised for his services to medicine, the local community, the development of culture, religion and the Sri Lankan and Indian communities in Australia.
His family includes sisters Pushpavathy & Pathmavathy and younger brother Harichandran who are deceased. His wife Santhanaledchumy (Mani) also recently passed away.
He is father to Ajit and Meera, father-in-law of Yamini and Michael, grandfather to Monique, Jaiden, Nathan and Inesh and great-grandfather to Levi. He is also the uncle of Muralitharan, Savithri, Romesh and Shyamala(deceased).
Funeral Service
The Funeral Service for Selvanayagam Selvendra will be held at The Stratus Reflection Space, Bunurong Memorial Park, 790 Frankston-Dandenong Road, Dandenong South between 11.00AM and 2.00PM on Wednesday 2nd October 2024
A private cremation will follow.
